Musician FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is Lesson Squad?

As a musician or educator, you recommend gear to students, friends and fans. Lesson Squad's platform lets you more elegantly make those recommendations and get paid when people buy. Moreover, we provide the tools you need to have an online presence, get new students, and manage your business. Check out this video for a quick look.

How does it work?

Every musician gets their own Lesson Squad page to help grow their online presence.

Your Lesson Squad page showcases the instruments & accessories you typically recommend to students, friends and fans. When someone buys through your page, you keep 5%.

It also gives students a way to send you a message or pay for a lesson so you can grow you teaching business.

Here is just one example of a musician using Lesson Squad.

Do I need to know how to build websites to use Lesson Squad?

No. Lesson Squad can be used by any musician or music educator. We take care of everything technical or design related for you.

How do I setup my Lesson Squad page for the first time?

Create an account here to get up and running. All you need is a short bio, profile pic, and ideas on what products you'd like to recommend.

Where can I add or remove products from my page?

If you'd like to add/remove products or otherwise edit your Lesson Squad page, simply login here, click your name in the upper right, then click General (to edit your page) or Store (to add/remove products). You can check out this video to see how it works.

How much does Lesson Squad cost?

Lesson Squad is free for musicians and music educators. We've partnered with retailers and manufacturers so you don't have to pay.

When someone buys a product through your page, you keep 5%. If you choose to also receive payments from students for lessons, you keep 90%.

When do I get paid?

When any product is sold on your page, you receive an email letting you know within 7 days. You then receive payment for 5% within 10 days or earlier.

Once you accept a lesson request from a student, that student will be asked to submit payment. As soon as they do, you will see the lesson status change to "paid" and can expect the funds to be deposited directly into your bank account within 5 business days.

To receive payments, please login to Lesson Squad and connect your bank account via Stripe, the payment processor used by Lyft, GoFundMe, Zoom, Instacart and many other major platforms.

How can I offer lessons through Lesson Squad? Can they be online?

Your Lesson Squad page contains a "Book Now" button that allows potential new students to request a lesson and send you a message. Once you receive the request, you can message the student through Lesson Squad to confirm that it's a fit and prepare for your first lesson. Once you and the student confirm, their card will be charged and funds will be sent your way.

Lesson Squad's platform includes built-in video conferencing for online lessons. If you'd prefer, you are also welcome to use your own preferred video-call platform such as Zoom.

Can I manage my lessons schedule through Lesson Squad?

To set your availability, simply login here, click your name in the upper right, then click General. Scroll down to the lessons section where you can add your schedule. As students book lessons, those times will automatically be blocked off on your schedule.
